Wow, I can hear those words still ringing in my ears from the '92 election. And while this isn't a political post those words are so relevant in today's business climate. Over the past months I've worked with a number of clients who are considering upgrading their copier fleet, looking at ways to reduce costs and make their business more productive. Reactions have been as diverse as the companies themselves in approaching purchases and integrating solutions into their business. A current customer recently told me that my solution would be a no brainer in a different economic climate, but he had to take a more serious look at my proposed solution and may or may not move on it until things pick up. Yet another organization is ready to take the plunge now, because, according to them, good business decisions are good business decisions no matter the economy.
I have told my boss more than once that it's great to be 56 years old, because there isn't much I haven't seen, and there isn't much that surprises me any more. Just like the mantra of '92; "It's the economy, stupid." Knowing that going into any situation helps, and it's incumbent upon me to make a strong business case for enacting my solutions. I truly believe that I can be of value to any business, helping them to dramatically effect their bottom line and to make them more productive. If my passion for that doesn't come through, then I've failed my customer.
